A holistic nurse practitioner (HNP) is an advanced practice nurse with specialized training in holistic and integrative healthcare. This means that in addition to traditional Western medicine, they also consider the patient's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being when developing a treatment plan. They may use various techniques such as meditation, acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine in addition to prescription drugs and other conventional therapies. They provide primary care, preventative care, and health education and work in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, private practices, and community centers. Holistic nurse practitioners are licensed and regulated by the state where they practice and typically hold a master's degree or higher in nursing.
